IRON MOUNTAIN - Wallace (Wally) Charles St. John, 82, of Iron Mountain, formerly of San Benito, Texas, went to his heavenly home in the presence of his family and loved ones, on Oct. 22, 2013.
Wallace was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Manistique, and was the fifth of seven children. He was self-employed most of his life. He married Phyllis Marie Perretto of Caspian in 1973. Wallace was blessed with seven children and six step-children, 36 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
He lived in San Benito prior to moving to Iron Mountain and was very active in Our Lady Queen of the Universe Church in Texas. He recently attended St. Mary Queen of Peace in Kingsford. Wally was known for his kindness, generosity and helping others. He was a gifted guitarist and vocalist. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing Texas Hold 'Em and sharing jokes. The biggest joys in his life were his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wally is survived by his wife, Phyllis St. John of Iron Mountain; 11 children, Randall (Pat) St. John of Kingsford, Bernice St. John of Kingsford, Julie Hall of Kingsford, Tina St. John of Kingsford, Carole (Leon) Waitrovich of Iron Mountain, Jeanne (Dean) Kaczorowski of Shawano, Wis., Patti Manning of Houston, Susan (Keith) Pullen of Tucson, Ariz., Sally (Alan) Plott of Plano, Texas, Laurie (Maurice) Desjardins of Sugar Land, Texas and Kathy Sullivan of Tomball, Texas.
He is also survived by 35 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Donald (Dawn) St. John of Manistique, and Bernice Archambeault of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Lillian St. John; mother- and father-in-law, Silvio and Elizabeth Perretto; daughter, Deborah St. John; a son, Timothy P. St. John; his grandson, Timothy C. St. John; siblings, Carole (John) Vander Muelen, Elaine (Lee) Tyler, Warren St. John, and Betty St. John; brothers-in-law, Joseph Archambeault and Jim Perretto.
A service will be at St. Mary's Queen of Peace in Kingsford on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11:30 a.m. Father Mike Woempner will officiate. A luncheon will follow at Grace Baptist Church, 1295 Pyle Drive in Kingsford.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
