Sheriff's department squad car involved in fatal accident

IRON MOUNTAIN - An elderly Crystal Falls man was killed in a vehicle-pedestrian accident involving an Iron County Sheriff's Department squad car in Mansfield Township on Thursday.

The accident occurred at about 11:05 a.m. on M-69 near Hope Mine Road.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain post of the Michigan State Police said that 91-year-old Harold Foucault was struck and killed by the squad car.

No further information will released at this time, as the accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division, Crystal Falls Police Department, Crystal Falls Fire Department, Michigan Department of Natural Resources Conservation Division, Northstar EMS, and the Michigan State Police Advanced Accident Investigators.
