IRON MOUNTAIN - The American Association of University Women (AAUW) will be accepting donations of new and gently used books Nov. 11-15 in preparation for their biggest fundraising event of the year, the AAUW annual Book Sale.
This year, the AAUW Annual Book Sale will be taking place April 11-12, 2014, at the Midtown Mall in Iron Mountain.
The proceeds from the AAUW Annual Book Sale are used every year as a primary source of funds for the scholarships provided by AAUW to area high school senior women and non-traditional students to attend the college or university of their choice.
To donate your new or gently used books on Monday, Nov.11 through Friday, Nov. 15, there are several drop-off sites throughout the community.
Drop off sites include: Iron Mountain area: Moose Jackson, The Bakery Shoppe and Iron Mountain Kingsford Credit Union; Niagara: Marcouiller Foods; Norway: Ebeling's Supermarket.
AAUW will accept most books in good condition, with the exception of school textbooks and encyclopedias
AAUW is a nationally recognized non-profit organization that strives to promote equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. The local branch of AAUW supports this mission through the promotion of community-service opportunities, and by providing scholarships for area women to attend a two- or four- year college or university of their choice, in a field of their choosing.
Two or four year college-degreed members of the community who are interested in finding out more information about joining the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Branch of AAUW can contact Jan VanGasse at (906) 563-8791.
