Iron Mountain's Randy Awrey, coaching a young Concordia Chicago football team, wrapped up his first season with a 2-8 ledger.

"We've got a great group coming back," Awrey said via the school Web site. "The experience they gained this season will be tremendous."

The Concordia roster contained six seniors, including Randy's son, Nick, a wide receiver with 17 catches this fall for 236 yards and three scores. Tony Awrey, another family member, coaches wide receivers.

CJ Woodford, a junior running back from Detroit, carved up Maranatha Baptist Bible for 219 yards rushing and four scores in a season-ending 48-22 win.

"Spring ball will be a teaching time," said Awrey, a former Northern Michigan University star. "That will mean a lot, a night-and-day difference for these players."
