CRYSTAL FALLS - An Iron River man accused of criminal sexual conduct has been found competent to stand trial.

After reviewing the results of a psychiatric evaluation, Iron County Trial Court Judge C. Joseph Schwedler determined on Monday that court proceedings can continue for 35-year-old Robert Streckert.

Proceedings had been on hold since the evaluation was ordered in early August.

A preliminary examination in the matter will be held on Dec. 23.

Streckert faces three felony counts of criminal sexual conduct-first degree for allegedly having sexual contact with a female victim between the ages of 13 and 15.

The incidents occurred between 2010 and June 2013 in Iron River.

Each felony count carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Streckert had originally been held on a $100,000 cash bond. A new bond hearing is scheduled for this afternoon.
