Tim Hoffman

CHANNING - Tim Edward Hoffman, 56, of Channing, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette with his loving family by his side.

He was born on June 1, 1957, in Toledo, Ohio, son of Marie (Snyder) and the late Ronald Hoffman. He graduated from Morenci High School in 1975.

He met and married Barb Edwards at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Temperance, Mich., on June 26, 1976. Tim moved his family to Channing in 1978, and has called it his home since. He worked as a lineman for many years with many companies for his Local 876, until health complications wouldn't allow him to continue.

He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola, and the U.P. Bear Houndsmen Association. He loved his work, hunting and fishing, and most of all his family.

Tim is survived by his loving wife of more than 37 years, Barb Hoffman of Channing; his mother and step-father, Marie (Bill) Williams of Lebanon Junction, Ky.; his children, Michael Hoffman (Julie Richtig) of Granite Bluff, Laurie (Alex) Knoll of Fults, Ill., and Jenny (Todd) Roell of Channing; grandchildren, Colin, Tyler and Nicholas Roell, Derek and Henry Knoll, Brianna, Evan, and Aylah Hoffman, Hailee Zambon and Sophia Richtig; brothers, Mark (Robin) Hoffman of Genoa, Ohio, Karl (Pennie) Hoffman of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Todd (Carol) Hoffman of Myrtle Beach, N.C., and Eric Hoffman of New London, Wis.; aunt, Ruth Hoffman of Channing; cousins, Amy Hoffman and Jay (Beth) Hoffman; and a longtime special family friend, Rick Ery; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Tim was preceded in death by a cousin, Jack Hoffman; his father, Ronald Hoffman; uncle, John Hoffman; his grandson, Grant Hoffman; and a daughter-in-law, Sarah Hoffman.

Visitation will be on Thursday from noon until 3 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

The funeral service will follow on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. David Anderson will officiate.

Burial will be in the Channing Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
