NORWAY - Norway built a 13-point lead in the first half and held off Manistique 42-32 in Mid-Peninsula Conference boys basketball Friday.

The Knights opened up a 26-13 halftime lead. The Emeralds (0-2) claimed a 19-16 advantage in the second half.

"Everything we did well in the first half, we did not do well in the second half," Norway Coach Ben Leiker said. "We had a real good first half. We were unselfish and moved the ball well offensively.

"In the second half we pulled the trigger way too early."

Nick Bal's 19 points, with five triples, paced the Knights. Tyler Kangas' 11 points topped the Emeralds.

Norway defeated Manistique in the junior varsity (34-32) and freshmen (57-36) games.
