MARINETTE, Wis. - A 19-year-old Milwaukee man who allegedly held up the Holiday gas station in Marinette Monday night is in jail after an investigation by Marinette County Sheriff's deputies and officers from the Marinette Police Department.
The man is currently lodged in the Marinette County jail on two counts of armed robbery and two counts of reckless endangering safety.
At 10:55 p.m. Monday, Marinette Police responded to a hold-up alarm from the Holiday gas station located at 4010 Marinette Avenue in Marinette. Two Marinette County Sheriff's deputies also responded.
While en route, officers learned there had been an armed robbery and a suspect had pointed a firearm at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect also ordered a customer to turn over money.
Officers were given a description of a lone male wearing a mask and armed with a handgun, fleeing on foot.
Responding deputies, who were in the area at the time of the alarm, observed the suspect leaving the area on foot and were able to stop and apprehend him.
Follow up investigation and evidence obtained resulted in the arrest.
Formal charges from the Marinette County District Attorney's Office are pending.
