The Daily News

CRYSTAL FALLS - Forest Park shot down Mid Peninsula's defense and rolled to a 79-37 Skyline Conference girls basketball victory at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium Tuesday.

The Wolverines deployed a triangle-and-two defense to check Lexi Gussert. The all-stater and Kendra Campbell foiled that plan with 18 and 16 first-half points, respectively.

Gussert collected 30 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, seven steals and two blocked shots in the game. Campbell connected on eight of nine field goals for 18 points.

"We've got other people that can score," Forest Park Coach Jeff Syrjanen said. "Kendra lit them up and hit from every direction."

Maria Stankewicz tacked on 12 points and two assists. Mary Grandahl and Kelsi Hendrickson also had two assists.

"Mid Pen is not a bad team," Syrjanen noted.

Forest Park (5-0, 4-0) visits Watersmeet on Friday.
