FLORENCE, Wis. - Florence halted a seven-game losing streak Tuesday with a 49-38 decision over Lena in non-conference girls basketball.
"It was a nice night for us and a much-needed victory," Florence Coach Katie Kilton said. "I really liked how we played together as a team. You could just see the connection on the floor."
Florence's Tessa Merhalski tallied a team-high 15 points and four of the team's nine steals. Aly Young and Maddy Doll controlled the inside with double-digit rebounds along with 10 and 8 points, respectively.

Doll added four blocks and four assists on passes to Young.
"Maddy and Aly were crashing the boards hard," Kilton said.
The Bobcats also reduced their turnovers to 11.
"The posts were working high-low and the guards were getting some nice outside shots," Kilton said. "It was really nice to see all of those things.
"Everything kind of came together for us tonight. Everyone stepped up, everyone did their part."
Jessica Glime tacked on eight Florence points.
Florence (2-7) faces Crandon for Parents Night Thursday.
Emma Seibold's eight points helped Florence's junior varsity down Lena 31-8.
