EL PASO - A felony charge was filed this week against a Texas woman who fled to Escanaba with her husband and son, leaving behind their infant whose body was later found buried in a New Mexico desert.
Jenna Farrey, 20, of El Paso, was arrested in Escanaba on Nov. 17 in connection with a parole violation. She was later extradited to El Paso County where she has been lodged without bond.
Earlier this week, she was charged with the felony of injury to a child, according to the county's website.
She was booked on the charge after the recent release of the autopsy of her five-month-old son, Jackson Farrey. On Nov. 20, his body was found buried in New Mexico. The autopsy could not determine a cause of death.
The child's mother and father both remain lodged in the El Paso County Jail. The father, Jeffrey Farrey, 22, is also charged with injury to a child. He is scheduled to go to trial in October.
The couple's older son, Blake, 21 months old, is under the care of Child Protective Services in El Paso County.
