CRYSTAL FALLS - An Iron River man was charged for a Monday incident in which he led law enforcement on a chase through Iron County.
Donald Rymkos, 67, faces one felony count of fleeing and eluding officers, one misdemeanor count of driving with failure to maintain insurance, and one misdemeanor count of driving with a suspended license.
His preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 18 in Iron County Trial Court.
The charges stem from an incident that began at about 1:37 p.m. in Iron River. Iron County Sheriff Mark Valesano said that a deputy observed Rymkos showing signs of what appeared to be road rage.
Valesano said the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on U.S. 2 and that Rymkos failed to acknowledge the officer, continuing to travel east at speeds between 45 and 60 miles per hour.
The chase ended when troopers from the Iron Mountain post of the Michigan State Police deployed stop sticks near Fortune Lake in Crystal Falls Township. The vehicle came to stop after hitting the sticks and Rymkos was taken into custody.
