SAGINAW - Saginaw Valley State University sophomore Anna Fochesato made a mark in her first showing on the national stage.
Competing in the NCAA Division II national championships in Winston-Salem, N.C., Fochesato earned All-American honors after finishing in a tie for 5th place with a mark of 1.73 meters in the high jump.
For the daughter of Joe and Jean Fochesato and granddaughter of Dorothy and the late Vic Fochesato of Norway, it was her first-career All-American finish as a Cardinal. Vic Fochesato was Norway High School's track coach for 26 years.
She broke her own school record at the GLIAC Championships, clearing 5-feet-8.5 to finish runner-up. Fochesato added a fifth in the triple jump.
