MENOMINEE - Three people were injured in a two vehicle head-on collision in Wallace on U.S. 41.
At about 11:29 p.m. Wednesday, a 43-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both from Tennessee, were traveling southbound on U.S. 41 when their vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a northbound vehicle, according to the Menominee County Sheriff's Office.
A 62-year-old Daggett man, the sole occupant of the northbound vehicle, was trapped and had to be extracted. He was transported via ambulance to Bay Area Medical Center and then to Theda-Clarke Medical Center in Neenah, Wis. to receive treatment for his injuries.
The man and woman from Tennessee were ejected from their vehicle. Both were transported to Bay Area Medical Center and then via helicopter to St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
Deputies said the preliminary investigation shows that alcohol may have been a contributing factor. The accident remains under investigation.
The Menominee County Sheriff's Office was assisted by a Michigan State Police accident reconstruction team. Other assisting agencies were the Mellen Fire Department, Mid-County Rescue and Extraction, and Bay Area Medical Center paramedics.
