MARQUETTE - A special weather statement has been issued for Dickinson and Iron counties for today.
Although the heaviest snowfall has ended across Iron and Dickinson counties, the gusty winds will continue to create some blowing and drifting snow, the National Weather Service at Marquette said.
The blowing snow combined with the light falling snow will allow for visibilities to be reduced to less than three quarters of a mile at times through 10 a.m., the special weather statement said.
In addition, any untreated roadways will continue to be hazardous due to the wet and heavy snow.
Meanwhile, a hazardous weather outlook as been issued for the western U.P.; a winter weather advisory has been issued for Florence, Marinette counties, along with Delta and Schoolcraft counties; and a winter storm warning is in effect for Marquette and Alger counties.
