NORWAY - Norway High School's season-opening golf tournament wasn't a complete washout Tuesday.
While weather forced the postponement of the Norway Invitational to Friday, May 9, 11 schools played a nine-hole scramble. Houghton shot a 67 for top honors, followed by Jeffers, 71, and Norway, 73.
"Each school had a three-man team and a two-man team," Norway Coach Ben Leiker said. "The three-man team played the front nine and the two-man team played the back. The two scores were combined at the end.

The official Norway Invitational was postponed Tuesday by weather but 11 teams did stick around for a scramble at Oak Crest Golf Course. Winter gear was the popular choice of apparel.
"Some of the teams brought extra players so there were a few schools with two three-man teams."
Norway was one of those schools with extra golfers, fielding teams of Austin Hanson, Mike Schalow and Canyon Rossato; Justin Anderson, Bryce Kelly and Brad Casanova.
The Knights hope to continue the season Monday with the North Central co-ed meet at Highland.
Norway returns four starters from last year's U.P. Division 2 runner-up - Anderson, Hanson, Kelly and Judd Gregg. Hanson carded a 77 and Anderson a 78 to lead the Knights.
"We have some experience coming back this year," Leiker said. "If we can get a consistent fourth score we would compete in every match. That is if we have any matches this year."
Norway's girls also return four regulars in Lane Broden, Nicole Glanville, Sammie Schultz and Paige Sheski. Broden was Norway's top golfer at last year's U.P. meet.
"We have several returning golfers but they are relatively new to the game," Leiker said. "We look to improve each match individually and as a team."
