NIAGARA, Wis. - Mock interviews were held for all seniors at Niagara High School recently with personnel from area businesses coming to Niagara High School.
Students applied for jobs they would like to have in the future and were interviewed for those positions, school officials said.
They learned how to prepare for employment in high school English classes by submitting resumes and business letters to these business personnel prior to their mock interview.
SENIORS AT NIAGARA High School recently participated in mock interviews with help from area businesses who conducted the interviews. Dan Davis, left, human resource generalist with Northern Star Industries Inc. in Iron Mountain was one of the interviewers. He is shown here with Niagara seniors, from left, Dyllan Pultz, Nate Moll and Wyatt Aderman.
Each student also worked on developing a portfolio to show examples of their skills, transcripts, letters of recommendation, career assessments, and research concerning interview techniques.
Each job interview was followed by a short evaluation. Suggestions for improvement were made, along with comments about the over-all interview, and the final follow-up took place in the classroom after written mock interview evaluations were reviewed.
The mock interview panel consisted of Dan Davis of Northern Star Industries Inc.; Kristen LaValley from ManorCare Health Services; Gary Zychowski of Verso Paper; Sue Paoli and Karin Gardipee from the First National Bank of Niagara; Don Schroeder from the School District of Niagara; and Elaine Pierce from the Dickinson- Iron Intermediate School District.
This is the 14th year that mock interviews have been conducted for all NHS seniors.
"NHS students, staff, and administration expressed their appreciation to the interview panel for their continued support," a spokesperson said.
