MILWAUKEE - Reuben P. Johnson, 81, of Milwaukee, formerly of Sagola, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Franklin, Wis.
He was born on March 1, 1933, in Sagola, son of the late Earnest "Albert" and Arline (Vonckx) Johnson.
He enlisted in the United States Army at age 17 and served in Alaska during the Korean War.
After being honorably discharged, Reuben went to work as a crane operator at the Ladish Company in Cudahy, Wis., retiring after 30 years of service.
Reuben married Ruth Crabtree Burr and she preceded him in death.
Reuben was also preceded in death by his brothers, Roy, Art, and William Johnson; and a niece, Terry Johnson.
He is survived by two brothers, Gary (Barbara) Johnson of Kingsford and Gerald Johnson of Crystal Falls; two sisters, Caroline (Wayne) McMahon of Green Bay, Wis., and Bertha Johnson of Sagola; his former wife, Anna; and stepdaughter, Sonya; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Reuben's request, private family services will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Crystal Falls.
