IRON MOUNTAIN - Carol M. Negro, 91, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Michael and Elda (Rudolph) Fornetti. Carol graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1941, and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Following graduation she attended Dundon's Business College and then took a position with the Commercial National Bank where she remained employed until they started a family.
Carol married Ralph "Sparky" Negro on April 10, 1948, in Iron Mountain and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2006.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the Dickinson County Pilots Association. Carol loved to sew and made dozens of Christmas stockings over the years. She enjoyed playing cards and getting together with friends for weekly bridge club.
Carol also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at the cottage at Lake Ellwood. She was an excellent cook and will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren for the holiday meals which included banana bread and tea ring for breakfast, gnocchi and Italian sausage dinners and desserts of strawberry shortcake and orange ice box dessert.
Carol is survived by a son, Michael (Lois) Negro of Neenah, Wis.; a daughter, Joanne (Larry) Lindholm of Quinnesec; a sister, Joyce Micensky of Marquette; a brother, Rodney (Kathy) Fornetti of Oregon, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Negro, Ryan (Amanda) Negro, Jennifer Negro and Angela Negro, Kimberly (David) Prinzi, Eric Lindholm and Kevin Lindholm (Taylor Schettler); one great-grandchild, Joseph Prinzi; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain.
A memorial service will follow Friday at 11 a.m. at the church. Lynn Sand will officiate.
Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living for their kind and loving care of their mother over the past seven years.
