FLORENCE, Wis. - Florence, in its final week of regular-season baseball action, fell to Niagara 9-5 and defeated White Lake 16-6.
Against Niagara, the pitching duo of Ethan Blagec and Hunter Kaldor checked Florence's bats to five hits. They struck out nine and walked three. Florence, using three pitchers, allowed 13 hits and three walks while fanning eight.
Patrick Moreau had a three-hit day for Niagara, including a double. Kaldor, Blagec and Jacob Bousley each had two hits. Spencer Davis tripled for the Bobcats.
Against White Lake, Florence again worked three pitchers, allowing just two hits while walking five and striking out five. Davis had three hits, with a triple. John Lemanski had two hits and three stolen bases in the five-inning contest.
Florence (5-2) awaits the winner of Tuesday's Elcho-Three Lakes WIAA Division 4 regional opener for a Wednesday game at Florence.
Second-seeded Niagara hosts No. 3 Pembine-Goodman at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in another regional semifinal.
Winners of Wednesday's game meet for the final Friday, June 6. That victor heads to sectional play Tuesday, June 10, at Tigerton.
