Residents and staff at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home in Niagara worked hard to get their gardens ready for summer and their family picnic. Resident Harold Forsber is shown planting flowers in a raised garden bed. The flower garden is planned to look like the American flag to honor Maryhill’s veterans and their families. The vegetable garden also in a raised garden bed was planted to have fresh veggies for the residents to pick at and eat when they want to. The gardens are in the resident courtyard which are fenced in. “The courtyard is a nice area for residents and their loved ones to go when it is nice out, there is a nice screened in Gazebo a Whisper Glide (swing for wheel chairs) and a nice paved walk way for them to go around the are and see the wonderful gardens that are surrounding the fencing,” said a spokesperson.
