Donna Simons, author of Copper Empire, will present “Copper Miners: Trials and Tribulations in 1913 in Michigan’s Copper Country,” at 6 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library on Thursday. This program will talk about the dangers of working in a copper mine, the nine month labor strike and outcome, and how the strike led to a tragedy that forever changed the Copper Country. Copies of Simons’ book will be available for sale and signing after the program. “Don’t miss out on this great piece of U.P. history,” said a library spokesperson.
