QUINNESEC - Two big innings Tuesday powered Iron Mountain North past Kingsford, 9-3, in the Little League baseball 11-year-old district championship at Baker Field.
Ian Anderson swatted a two-run blast in a five-run first inning and Blake Julian connected with a two-run shot in a four-run fourth for state-bound North.
North heads to the Schoolcraft-Vicksburg area this week for the state tournament. North's major (age 12) team is playing in the state tournament at Muskegon.

Brice Pietrantonio posted three hits, knocked in three runs and scored twice for the 11-year-old stars. Julian added a two-run single and Michael Savarin singled twice in North's eight-hit attack.
Savarin, Dante Basanese and Julian joined Pietrantonio in scoring two runs apiece.
Kingsford registered single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Kingsford, which won two games in the elimination bracket, collected five singles from Nolan LaVarnway, Carter Kreski, Charlie Schaefer, Cole Bracket and Jack Perpich. Logan Normand also drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk.
As for North pitching, Julian limited Kingsford until giving way to Jurgen Kleiman late in the game.
Elsewhere in area Little League baseball, Norway begins minor (age 9-10) district play at 4 (Central time) this afternoon at Escanaba.
Kingsford will host the District 11 champion in the Little League baseball junior sectional tournament at Marion Park. The best-of-three tournament begins Saturday, with games at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. If necessary, a third game will be played Sunday at 1 p.m. Sectional winner advances to Onsted for the state tournament.
