Kingsford - Dickinson-Iron District Health Department (DIDHD), has provided quality family planning and breast/cervical cancer screening services to women in our community for over 35 years.
Historically, many of our clients have been uninsured or underinsured. But today, with the new Affordable Care Act, many of the women served in our clinics will now have access to some type of health insurance.
It is important for area women to know that the health department will continue to offer screening services to all women insured, uninsured and under-insured. For those with insurance, the department will directly bill their insurance company.
Women seeking reproductive health care services may call to set up an appointment in our Family Planning Clinic.
Women under 65 years, who do not need family planning services, will be seen in our Well Woman's Clinic, for breast and cervical cancer screening. In this clinic, women will be offered a physical exam (including breast exam), pap smear if indicated and referral as appropriate for screening mammograms.
Individuals with abnormalities detected will be referred for diagnostic services and may be enrolled in the State-funded Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) if they cannot afford their insurance copays and/or deductibles for these services.
Bottom line, DIDHD wants area women to know that even if they are transitioning in their healthcare coverage, it is important not to fall behind in obtaining their routine preventive healthcare.
Dickinson-Iron District Health Department will continue providing compassionate, quality services in both Dickinson and Iron Counties, to meet family planning and breast/cervical cancer screening needs.
