LANSING (AP) - Applicants have until Tuesday to seek state grants for projects that would improve habitat for wildlife, especially game animals.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is accepting proposals under a program funded with revenue from sales of hunting and fishing licenses.
Among those eligible to apply are local, state, federal and tribal governments, nonprofit and for-profit organizations and individuals.
Minimum grants will be $15,000, with the maximum being the amount of funds available for that grant cycle. The 2015 overall available grant amount is approximately $1 million.
Successful applications will be announced by Oct. 1.
