GOODMAN, Wis. - A wildfire consumed about three-fourths of an acre of grassland on U.S. 8 in the town of Goodman on Wednesday afternoon.

Goodman Fire Chief Mike Stec said that the fire started at about 2:30 p.m. behind the Good Shepherd Baptist Church.

Firefighters found that a portion of a compost pile was burning in addition to the grassland. They quickly brought the fire under control, said Stec.

Stec reported that there was no damage to any buildings nor any injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

Assisting the Goodman Fire Department was the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources office in Pembine, Wis.
