MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Mount Pleasant police say a 36-year-old man from Sears has died after he was hit by a car.

Police say a witness told them the man didn't look for traffic before crossing the street Sunday night. The witness says the man was nearly hit by another vehicle immediately before the accident.

Police say the man was hit by a vehicle driven by an 86-year-old man from Six Lakes. The man was taken to a local hospital and transported to another, where he later died.

The man's name is being withheld until family members have been notified.
