Look where we have come with Calculators and computers.... once very expensive and so new people scoffed at them but now look at your Keyboards.... Look at how affordable this technology has become..... We need to do this with energy!

Kingsfordresident has a good point too! When I was in Elementary school pollution was the subject along with energy..... We need to advance our technology into workable energy and environmentally friendly solutions.... We have had knowledge of this technology for more than 30 years.... we have just been too stupid to continue to develop it.... There is potential for significant profit for the US to solve problem world wide. TBOONE is a smart oil man and even HE SAYS we can not Drill our way out of this Crisis. He sees the profit..... We should too.

I agree with Yoopdog! I remember Jimmy sitting in his sweater and telling us to conserve way back then.... There was an energy Crisis... But the American "I ME" mentality has continued our addiction on this (******) Oil..... And we continued to thumb our noses at the environment and demand the SUV's and suspended our encouraging the development of more energy efficient technology. Randal your answer is to give a Junkie another fix. It is time for an "Intervention" and we need to say we are kicking our habit. As Niel Young sang... I seen the needle and the damage done... a little part of it in everyone.....Oh oh the damage done.... Every Junkie is like the setting sun..... We are Oil Junkies.... time to get rehab.... not continue looking for another fix. And we all got what we got coming from the consequence of our addiction.

If we're going to make comparisons to Marxism - I would say the GOP plan of "Drill and Kill" is most like the policies of the now defunct Soviet Union. The Soviets had no environmental regulation and like many in the GOP saw it as kind of a "goodie two shoes - feel good - BS idea." Some of us old enough to remember the fall of the Soviet Union, can remember pictures of children in the USSR playing outside in the filthy air - black soot marking their upper lips - simply from breathing.

I fear a thoughtful debate has reached the pre-school level now. I will apologize to anyone else reading for allowing myself to respond to these comments. I am ashamed that a subject this important was reduced to shock-jock entertainment--NO substance, ALL buffoonery. I would enjoy reading anyone else's THOUGHTFUL views, even when I don't agree.

PS.Dog Poop I truely did vote for W twice- proudly. I am not a Neo-con, but a proud Conservative who will always be above your standards. I can only laugh at the useless idiots who Stalin himself called useful idiots. You are not a very decent person, as your attitude and childish prattle tells me and shows others, that you are very immature. Silly as you are, you do have the right to prattle on.

It is quite obvious that Yoopermut is just a typical lefty. Like the Marxist/Stalinist heros in his life, he wishes to tell everyone else how to live. Liberty is having the ability to live according to ones needs and abilities, to be able to pursue one's desires. Not to have someone else try to shove their percieved crap science down my throat. So to the moron who thinks I'm eating crow Sorry, it's T-Bone Steak!! What a commy loser you are.

P.S. I have never been near a "welfare office", I like sweaters, and tofu is very tasty. When the Bushies force us all to the "welfare office", I will follow someone like you who knows how to get there. I'll recognize you by the crow hanging out of your fat mouth.

Dear Kneiss: You are absolutely right. If I were the only proud American to "walk my shoes off, burn my candles and dump all the used oil into the recycle buckets", it would not make a "dime" of difference. It's the selfish, spoiled, perceived entitled jerks like you who refuse to believe in scientific and economic facts or take a personal responsibility in the direction our country will take. We have to start somewhere but as long as there are Neo-con Crackpots -- (I am reduced to name calling to get down to your sub-dirt level)--like YOU, this country will continue going down the tubes, thanks to our current president who I must assume you voted for---twice. Thanks for nothing. And your country thanks you for your participation, which is apperently limited to enjoying the right to free speech. Yours is particularily free because it ain't worth nuthin'.

Dear Yoopmut, You can walk your shoes off, burn your candles and dump all the used oil into the recycle buckets, and that will not increase the supply enough to make one dimes worth of difference. I would expect such a lame argument from a sickly and scrawnny liberal loonie. Chew on that as you whine about heating, transportation and food costs this winter. Opps, I forgot, you won't be cold because you'll be wearing a Jimmy Carter sweater, walking to the welfare office and eating your tofu.

Apparently, someone (Kneiss) did not study basic economics. Supply and demand. If we stop demanding oil by taking just a little personal responsibility by recycling petroleum products, turning off lights, and getting our FAT A*S*S*E*S out of the cars and walk/bike once in a while...well, you get it. Our healthcare system is going to be crushed by obesity and all the diseases that come with it. If not to conserve, how about for your health? Or is that too "Liberal Loony" for you?

Same 'ol, Same'ol. "It will take 10 years." Today we would have been more insulated to this world crisis if the dummycrats and Rinos had acted more progressively towards the needs of America's future. Instead they have spent their time decimating and gouging our industries with ridiculous fees, taxes, and bureaucratic hoops set up by the loonie leftists in our own government. The "brilliant" Al Gore has created a lucritive business of buffaloing the educated buffoons in education and research scientists, not with facts, but with grant money. It is they who have created this nonsense of global warming, it is they who have desired higher prices for fuel. So next winter when your setting in your frozen house with your mukluks on and six winter coats and waiting for your high speed, door-to-door mass transit system to wisk you away to Utopia, thank the DemocRat party. And if you think Oh Be Afraid My America (Obama) is the change you need, you had better grab an extra

We need to do everything we can to be as independant as we can from oil rich countries. That means drilling our own oil, researching alternative energies, investing in Nucleur power, reducing what we currently use, etc. We need to do ALL of it. We need to start NOW! I realize how long it will take, but ignoring it any longer is certainly not the answer. There is no overnight fix. The fix is go after it aggressively by doing what we all can. Then in 10 years hopefully we are happy we didn't shove it to the side because there was no instant gratification at the time. The only wrong answer in all of this is to exclude something within reason.

Well if we do drill doesn't anyone realize that it will take about 10 years to see the supply reflected? High gas prices are here to stay. So far my Resource Economics class is right on. Our demand is ridiculously high, and with China poised to have as many cars as us in less that 10 years you know what that means. More competition. We in America have had it very good for a long time. Europes gas prices have been high for years, nearly $8 a gallon, but they have adequate public transportation. We like our big cars, our plastic, and living above our means. The technology is there we just need to actually make it and make it cheaper.

Yes!!! DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW, SAVE MONEY!!! You can not conserve enough energy to keep our nations industries and economy growing. Conservation is fine and seeking new sources is great. But in the meantime our nation runs on oil, natural gas and coal. Nuclear is the cleanest and most reliable form for electricity. We have oil and gas in Michigan we can't touch. Enough with the Marxist liberal loonies and their nation desroying plans. Drill and refine now and save our nation and our way of life.

This is such a poorly stated question! Does anyone realize that drilling will provide us with a fraction of the oil this country uses in a year. It won't lower prices or fix our energy crisis. We need to take advantage of clean energy like wind, water, sunlight, and geothermal energy. Drilling for more oil only kicks the energy crisis problem further down the road. We need to deal with this crisis now and be proactive!
