$700 to $800 billion a year to Saudi Arabia - a place where they decapitate women for driving. Give the country away to the Arabs - for what? So you can drive your jacked up Suburban and feel like a cool guy? Destroy yourselves in the name of VANITY. You're only fooling yourself. Everyone knows what it means when you overcompensate. A truck doesn't give you your manhood.

We were able to create the technology to make a $1.00 Calculator.... and Personal computers in the 1980's were about $5000.00 Now we all sem to have them and even with more memory and functions.... Immagine if we would have begun further development of wind, solar, water power back when Jimmy wore his sweater..... It isn't like we did not have the ability.... demand did not give us the reason for supply. Even though we all knew about an impending energy crisis..... We almost deserve the spanking we are getting now.

I'm glad I live in America. Reading these posts is one of the most entertaining parts of my day. With that said: People should be able to drive anything they want. If you can afford dumping gas into it, go for it. Just don't run me over when you’re driving around with RECKLESS abandon, disregarding the environmental effects. Our humble planet was here long before we all evolved into oil dependent creatures; it will be here long after we are gone. So*****on that oil filled pacifier and feed your selfish habits. I’m driving a lot less, staying home and reading these far-out posts.

Every time a gas pump chimes, a soldier gets his flag.

Ultimately the price of gas will make many of us Choose the less gas guzzler models.... But until the poor person can afford that new technology .... we will be stuck in the cheap gas guzzler until we can afford the energy efficient car.... but eventually the technology will have us all able to conserve.

This is a loaded question if there ever was. How about: "Should America fight terrorism?" With the possible responses: "Bomb the He ll out of them." and "Let's be their friends." True journalistic integrity here, let there be no doubt.

No, I do not think that should happen. I mean, some ppl do alot of driving for their jobs, something like this would hurt them more then anything. Or what about those who Drive for a living? like Cabbies or truckers? nope it should be up to each of us to do what is needed

Well it's nice reading your post too Randall - Your posts are always congenial and well thought out. Are you a relative of Tailgunner Joe? You seem really hung up on Marxism. Have you ever read anything about it? If you look at the economies where Marxism was tried, they had very little environmental regulation, and pollution was rampant, and still is. The former Soviet Union and the former Warsaw Pact nations are the best example. I'm not a Marxist. A Marxist wouldn't give a darn about the environment or the health of the people. Perhaps you could read more about Marxism before making such a statement next time? I do care if I breathe, and so does my family. Thank you for your concern.

You,Ann, must be one of the most boring people I've ever encountered. I'm sure the guys are just flocking to date you. If you're married, your husband must be the most miserable creature on earth. puking on liberal wack jobs such as yourself is far more entertaining than reading your regurgitated marxist secular nonsense. I find it hard to believe anyone would care if you could breathe.

Well puking on people might be your method - I prefer to discuss issues like an adult. Our dependence on oil is a strategic weakness that makes us all slaves to the Saudis. That might be one reason to consider it. Another might be that in some areas of the country where there is more pollution - children have open sores in their lungs from breathing car exhaust. Another one might be the vast amounts of money that are flowing out of the country everyday. Another one might be every time the price of oil rises, Russia and Iran become more powerful, and we become weaker. Another might be that we need oil for some things that are more important than burning it up in a cool car - like plastic - pesticides - fertilizer - and they aren't making any more of it. You might find it a limit of your liberty not to be able to drive a huge car and look cool - I might find it a limit on my liberty if you do so in such a way that I can't breath clean air, or have my country keep it's

Where is the idea of liberty in even proposing taxes or choice of what you want to drive. It shouldn't even be a question. This is America, isn't it? Or are we trying to become a third world communist state. Puke on the polititian that even conciders such garbage.

The poll question and available responses don't seem to mesh to well. It would seem someone from the oil lobby had written it. If the question is - should we legislate fleet average fuel economy - or - should we tax less fuel efficient vehicles more heavily - or ????? These are common ideas on this subject, but is this what this poll is about? If either of the above were used we'd still be able to "drive what we want." We'd pay more for that car that uses a lot of gas, and pay less for the car that uses less.
