Thompson will take up a new role within the organization. The news was first reported by NFL Network.
According to reports, Packers’ team president Mark Murphy will lead a reorganization effort, including defining new roles for current members of the front office.
The news came just hours after other news broke of the firing of defensive coordinator Dom Capers. The changes followed almost immediately following Green Bay’s 35-11 season finale loss at Detroit on Sunday.
