SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — The Lakeland University women’s basketball team got off to red-hot starts in both halves and is in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference tournament championship game after a 79-63 win over Alverno College in the tourney semifinals Thursday night at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The second-seeded Muskies will play in the title game for the first time since 2010 when they travel to face No. 1 seed Concordia University Wisconsin today at 2 p.m. in Mequon.

Lakeland will be aiming for its seventh NCAA Division III Tournament bid in school history and its first since 2010, when it won its only previous NACC championship.

The Muskies (19-7 overall) eliminated sixth-seeded Alverno, turning a four-point game at halftime to 54-35 with a 15-0 run.

Bailey Grayvold (Norway) and Rachel Stankevich (Goodman) also scored 15 points each. Earlier in the day, Grayvold and Stankevich were named to the All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference first team.

Stankevich added a game-high 13 rebounds while Miranda Jacobson (Felch) had 14 points.

Maddy Doll (Florence) finished with four points and nine rebounds. She also recorded three blocked shots.
