NIAGARA, Wis. — Brook Breitrick’s arm and Taylor Matsche’s bat did in Niagara.
Breitrick tossed a four-hitter and Matsche hit a pair of home runs as Bowler defeated Niagara 9-1 in a WIAA Division 5 softball regional semifinal.
Breitick struck out six and walked two. Niagara pitcher Jayden Payette permitted nine hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
Matsche added a single with her two home runs.
Taylor Tushoski, one of six Niagara seniors, doubled in her last at-bat. The Badgers also had singles in the game from Abi McCarthy, Maddy Colburn and Brittani Spigarelli.
“It was a successful season,” said Niagara Coach Duane Blagec. “The younger girls learned how to play as the season went on. The future is bright.”
Tushoski, Colburn and Spigarelli along with Mackenzie McCarthy, Sarah Nawn and Payton Aderman are Niagara seniors.
“I want to thank my seniors for their dedication to the program,” Blagec said.
Bowler traveled to Wausaukee today for a regional final.
