Carney-Nadeau boys basketball coach Jake Polfus has completed his first marathon, running Sunday’s Cellcom Green Bay in 3 hours, 17 minutes, 6 seconds.
That was good for 79th overall.
“It was one of the toughest things I have ever done, but it was so well worth it although my legs would disagree,” Polfus, running in the age 35-39 division, said on Facebook.
Kingsford’s Matthew Pipp, winner of this year’s Norway Spring Classic, led the local runners with a time of 3:18.54 (85th).
In the Cellcom half-marathon, Norway’s Dan Delong finished 32nd overall (1:24.04). Daniel Pipp was 91st (1:33.16) …

Escanaba’s Bob McGinn doesn’t use the term “retirement” when discussing his decision to leave the Milwaukee JournalSentinel sports department.
“I loved working at the JournalSentinel,” McGinn said via Twitter. “My departure is 1000 percent my decision.”
McGinn, 65, added that he is not retiring and hopes to “write some.”
McGinn, a member of the UP and Pro Football halls of fame, plans to move from Wisconsin to Ann Arbor.
McGinn, a six-time Wisconsin Sportswriter of the Year recipient, has covered the Green Bay Packers for Milwaukee and Green Bay newspapers since 1991.
