Alex Milinski doesn’t plan to stay away permanently from Kingsford High School boys soccer.

Milinski, KHS boys soccer coach since 2012, stepped down after this season. A new addition to the family prompted the decision.

“I have some unfinished business here, so it’s not farewell forever,” Milinski said at last week’s Flivver senior athletic banquet.

Milinski’s 95-game career record stands at 68-18-9.

“I want to make it to 100 (games),” said Milinski, one of the many sharp St. Norbert College guys I’ve encountered over the years. “Hopefully, I’ll be back.”

New Gladstone High School boys basketball coach Dane Quigley has registered the Braves for the final summer team camp spot at the University of Wisconsin. …

Former Packers great James Lofton, who has visited this area for his role with the Pro Football Hall of Fame/US Army scholarship, will become a CBS Sports pro football game analyst this season. He previously worked for Westwood One radio.

Lofton traveled to Iron Mountain and Kingsford last year, and Powers this year to present Pro Football Hall of Fame/US Army scholarship plaques and jackets …
