Track and field: Nordics sweep Booster Club Invite

FELCH — The first Nordic Booster Club Invitational track meet was all North Dickinson.

The Nordics swept the eight-team boys and girls meet Tuesday.

Garrett O’Neil’s three firsts helped North Dickinson edge North Central 112-109 for the boys title. Florence Invitational champion Norway was third with 99.

O’Neil took the 110-meter hurdles (16.23), 300 hurdles (43.65) and long jump (18-0.5). Coach Mike Lindholm’s Nordics also had firsts from Kevin Cary in high jump (5-6) and Austin Curtis in discus (93-6).

North Central’s Connor Robinson won the 1600 run (5:17.71) and 3200 (11:16.54).

Caleb Jones of the Niagara-Florence co-op captured the 800 run (2:08.79) and anchored the winning 3200 relay (9:20.25).

North Dickinson dominated the girls meet, thumping runner-up Bark River-Harris 166-94 behind three firsts from Brianna Smith and Maia Steinbrecher.

Smith copped the 1600 (6:07.36) and 3200 (13:24) runs and anchored the winning 3200 relay (11:59.94). Steinbrecher prevailed in 800 (2:49.89) along with the 3200 (11:59.94) and 1600 (4:44.23) relays.

The Nordics also tacked on firsts from Karina Madigan in 400-meter dash (1:07.55), Mya Lacanne in high jump (4-7) and Hannah Clark in pole vault (7-0).

Bark River-Harris’ Hailee Demers accounted for firsts in the 100-meter dash (13.36), 300 hurdles (54.17) and 200 dash (28.42).
