Niagara outfielder Landen Kaldor named to state all-tournament team

Legion Baseball

CLINTONVILLE, Wis. — Landen Kaldor, one of the Niagara stars from last month’s American Legion Class A state baseball tournament, earned a berth on the all-tournament team.

Kaldor was the only Niagara player named to the all-tournament team. The outfielder posted a .600 batting average with a 1.236 on-base plus slugging and two RBI.

Kaldor had two hits in Niagara’s nine-run sixth inning against defending state champion Waupun.

Niagara lost to eventual state champion West Salem in the semifinals. West Salem defeated Clintonville for the state title and advanced to Wahpeton, ND, for the Division 2 Central Plains Regional.

West Salem fell to Pierz, Minn., 5-3 in the regional finals. Many of West Salem’s Legion players contributed to the high school winning the WIAA Division 2 state championship in June.

West Salem’s Alex Jeranek won MVP and batting awards (.611 average) at the state tournament.

Iola received the sportsmanship award from the state tournament.
