Football: Stephenson dominates Nordics

Glover paces Eagles with 115 rushing yards, three TDs

STEPHENSON — Stephenson and Montell Glover raced past North Dickinson 68-16 in Western Eight Conference eight-player football Friday.

The Nordics (1-3, 1-3 WEC) trailed 52-8 at halftime. Glover ran 65 yards for a touchdown on the Eagles’ first series, finishing with 115 yards for the game and two more scores.

“Montell Glover was pretty amazing,” said Nordics coach Mike Christian. “By far that’s the best team we’ve seen this year.”

The Nordics scored in the second quarter on a 63-yard pass from John Nelson to Cameron Schultz. Brennan Donaldson ran for two points.

In the fourth quarter, Devon Donaldson-Cherubini ran two yards for the score. Donaldson added the conversion points.

The Nordics had 97 yards rushing — 46 from Brendon Steinbrecher — and 93 passing from Nelson.

Matt Bruette and Sonny Tolonen each made nine tackles.

Before Friday night, Stephenson had not defeated North Dickinson since 1983.

“We’ve been in a conference with them a couple of times and they’ve always been able to beat us and get the best of us and our kids really brought that to the field with them,” said Eagles coach Logan Carlson.

The Nordics travel to Ontonagon on Friday.
