IRONWOOD — Iron Mountain managed a second-half goal and blanked Ironwood 1-0 on Monday.

“We dominated possession and held Ironwood to zero shots on the game but struggled to put the ball in the back of the net,” said Mountaineers coach Dave Brule.

Tyler Fox finally broke the scoreless tie at the 18-minute mark in the second half.

“Owen Caudell crossed the ball and the Ironwood goalkeeper (Josh Joki) made an attempt at it,” Brule said. “But it landed at Fox’s feet and he knocked it in for the only goal of the game.”

The Mountaineers applied “great pressure” on the Red Devils, according to Brule.

“Our passing was decent,” Brule said. “We just couldn’t finish the scoring opportunities.”

The Mountaineers outshot Ironwood 8-0.

“Our defense was solid again with Michael Kulas anchoring the back line and frustrating Ironwood’s strikers with his speed and ball handling,” Brule said.

Iron Mountain (5-2-2) faces Escanaba at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Commemorative Field.
