Norway hosts Bark River-Harris in Week 5 rematch; Trojans host Jets

The first week of high school playoff football is here.

Pairings for the opening week of the Michigan High School Athletic Association football playoffs were revealed on “Selection Sunday,” televised on Fox Sports Plus Sunday evening.

In Division 5 Region 1, Kingsford hosts Gladstone at 6 p.m. CDT Friday. The winner plays the winner of Hancock at Menominee.

The Flivvers have made the playoffs 16 times since 2000.

The Norway Knights will host Bark River-Harris at 6 p.m. Friday in the Division 8 Region 1 bracket.

Norway beat the Broncos 28-14 in Week 5.

The winner of that game plays the winner of Lake Linden-Hubbell at West Iron County. The Wykons and Lakes game will kickoff at 6 p.m.

The Knights have made the playoffs in back-to-back years for the first time since 2009-10.

In the Division 1 Region 1 eight-player matchup, Forest Park hosts North Central at 6 p.m. The winner plays the winner of Engadine at Rapid River.

The 11-player division championships will be held Nov. 24-25 at Ford Field in Detroit. Both division championships in eight-player will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Superior Dome in Marquette.

— This article was updated to reflect the 6 p.m. start in the West Iron County game against Lake Linden-Hubbell on Friday. The MHSAA website incorrectly listed the game as a 7 p.m. local start.
