Unbeaten Florence volleyball downs Laona-Wabeno; can win title Thursday

FLORENCE, Wis. — Florence, keyed by Shayla McLain’s 14 kills and six blocks, downed Laona-Wabeno 3-1 (25-11, 25-11, 25-27, 25-15) in Northern Lakes Conference volleyball.

Karmen Anderson served 100 percent and had six aces for the unbeaten Bobcats (16-4-7, 11-0). Jenna Springer, Bailey Apfel and Taylor Schuls also served 100 percent.

Anderson added 32 assists and three blocks; Sidnie Steber, seven kills; Bailey Apfel, six kills and two blocks; and Savannah Vassar, one block.

Florence can clinch at least a share of the NLC regular season title in Thursday’s home match with second-place Elcho.

“It should be a very competitive game,” said Bobcats coach Joan Canfield.
