Dickinson County ties to Wisconsin football playoffs

MADISON, Wis. — Sun Prairie and Norway native Brady Grayvold have a herculean task awaiting them in the 42nd annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Football State Championships.

Sun Prairie (13-0) and four-time defending champion Kimberly (13-0) will meet at 4 p.m. Friday at Camp Randall Stadium for the Division 1 state title.

Kimberly owns a 69-game winning streak, suffering its last loss at Level 3 of the 2012 playoffs. The Papermakers have a connection to Dickinson County as starting senior linebacker Braden Barglind (5-foot-11, 178) is the son of Mandy Emmengger of Appleton and Brad Barglind of Iron Mountain.

Sun Prairie, averaging 39 points a game, won the Big Eight championship this fall.

Grayvold, a Norway High School and UW-Whitewater football standout, serves as Sun Prairie’s defensive backs and special teams assistant coach.
