Boys basketball: Mahoney’s seven 3’s help Suring past Niagara

NIAGARA, Wis. — Ryan Mahoney hit seven three-point field goals in a 32-point night as Suring downed Niagara 63-30 in M&O Conference boys basketball Friday.

Alex Hagerty scored 12 points for the Badgers (2-3, 0-2), who trailed 44-10 at halftime.

“Suring played a great 1-3-1 half-court defense which really stymied our offense,” said Badgers coach Jim Hoogland. “We need to shoot the ball better and take better shots.”

The Badgers shot 25 percent from the floor and had 27 turnovers.

“The players worked hard all night despite the lopsided score,” Hoogland said.

Niagara visits Lena on Monday.
