FELCH — North Dickinson, led by Juliann Wickman’s 19 points and six rebounds, spilled Republic-Michigamme

63-30 in non-conference girls basketball Tuesday at Carl F. Lemin Gymnasium.

The Nordics (1-1) held a 31-12 halftime lead.

“We did great job of passing and sharing the ball,” said Nordics coach Kirk Mattson. “We had a lot of good looks because of that. It was a pretty physical game and our team handled it well. A lot of bodies were on the floor.”

Nordics sophomore Briana Smith added 12 points and Maia Steinbrecher had 11.

“Juliann Wickman and Maia Steinbrecher did a good job of finding the open areas and knocking down shots,” said Mattson, a 1988 North Dickinson graduate who played for legendary Nordics coach Don Benzie. “Briana Smith was pushing the ball up the floor and finding the open teammate.”

Tailyn Raisanen and freshman Allie Radcliffe each had eight points for the Hawks.

The Nordics had 16 turnovers.

North Dickinson won the junior varsity game.
