Trojans worked in off-season

Boys Basketball

CRYSTAL FALLS — Michigan’s Eight-Player Division 2 state football champions didn’t slack off when it came to basketball preparation.

“I feel the team put in a lot of off season work,” said Trojans coach Chris Nocerini. “They played together all summer. Definitely can’t say they didn’t put the time in.

“I’m excited to see if their experience and hard work will pay off this year.”

Forest Park opens the boys basketball season tonight at Skyline Central Conference foe Mid Peninsula.

Forest Park graduated Daniel Nocerini, a unanimous All-Skyline Central Conference pick.

“We need to make up for his defense and rebounding,” said the Trojans coach, assisted by Troy Margoni.

Forest Park has eight players back with experience in seniors Connor Bortolini, Josh Logan, Hunter Alder, Jacob Frisanco, Jonah Logan and Tyler Peltoma; and juniors Riley Hendrickson and Max Nylund.

Hendrickson was an honorable mention league pick.

“As a team, this group is more than ready for the challenge ahead of them,” Nocerini said.

Forest Park finished sixth (5-8) in the 2017 conference standings.
