Kingsford’s Kriegl named GNC Player of the Year

KINGSFORD — Kingsford senior point guard Jordyn Kriegl has been named the Great Northern Conference Player of the Year.

Girls basketball coaches met Saturday to select All-GNC performers.

Kriegl, a four-year varsity performer, averaged 10.6 points, 3.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds in her senior season.

Kriegl, who will attend Edgewood College in Madison, was selected to the GNC first-team for her sophomore and junior years.

Kingsford senior Renee Roberts was named to the All-GNC first team with Emma Anderson of Menominee, Lexi Chaillier of Escanaba, Taylor Hunter of Gladstone and Avery Ledy of Marquette.

Kingsford sophomore Brooke Kriegl, Jordyn’s sister, landed a second-team spot.

Junior Olivia Allen and senior Sam Cross of Kingsford received honorable mention.

Ledy earned defensive player of the year, leading a lineup with Brooke Kriegl, Barrette, Chaillier, Hardwick and Stasha Warchock of Marquette.

Ben Smith of Marquette was named GNC Coach of the Year.
