Baseball roundup: Flivvs quiet in 12-2 loss to Braves

KINGSFORD — Gladstone’s offense fired early en route to a 12-2 win over Kingsford on Tuesday.

The Braves scored all of their runs in the first three innings including a four-run first.

The Flivvers didn’t get their first hit until the fourth inning. Noah Wilcox’s single and Luke Terrian’s double were the only signs of Kingsford’s offense.

Kingsford batters were impatient at the plate, hitting the ball early in the count. The result was Gladstone pitcher Cody Frappier cruised through innings having hardly any pitches on his arm. He threw just 17 pitches through the first three innings. The Flivvers battled the count more in the fourth and more than doubled Frappier’s pitch count. He finished the game with 52 pitches.

Frappier struck out two and walked two.

Wilcox, Terrian and Carter Kreski pitched for Kingsford. They gave up a combined 11 hits with seven walks and one strikeout.

Dan Martin hit a three-run home run in the second for the Braves. Kingsford got two flyouts to start the inning before a double and a walk set up Martin’s at-bat. He connected on a 2-0 pitch to give Gladstone a 7-0 lead.
