IM girls soccer beats Sheboygan
LUXEMBURG, Wis. — Iron Mountain knocked off a pair of Wisconsin schools in girls soccer Saturday.
The Mountaineers (8-1) rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat Sheboygan Falls 3-1.
“We came out strong in the second half,” said Mountaineers coach Steve Hodgins. “Sheboygan Falls was limited to only a few chances on our net.”
Hodgins said a great pass from Reagan Lundholm set up Riley Poupore for the first of her three goals in the game.
“Riley continued to have a great second half by getting us two more goals,” Hodgins said.
In the second game, Iron Mountain scored three first-half goals and spilled the host Luxemburg-Casco Spartans 4-1.
Poupore, Brianna Hoffman and Lundholm had first-half goals. Lundholm also scored in the second half.
“These were two good wins against good Green Bay area schools,” Hodgins said. “We had great shooting, passing, defense and goal-keeping all day.
“I’m very happy with the performance today from my entire team.”
The Mountaineers and Marquette will stage a UP Soccer Conference showdown at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Commemorative Field. Iron Mountain seniors Brianna Hoffman, Bethany Fehr, Marissa Schilling and Katelyn Charette will be recognized for playing in their final home match.
