Prep Golf: Florence starts season; Norway 2nd at Stephenson

LAKEWOOD, Wis. — Florence placed fourth in the first Northern Lakes Conference golf meet of the spring Tuesday.

Crandon, 357, captured team honors at McCauslin Brook, beating Laona-Wabeno, 398; Three Lakes, 441; Florence, 447; Pembine, 492; and Elcho, 502.

Medalist Grace Warrner of Laona-Wabeno shot an 85. Pembine’s Wyatt Marcy posted an 88. Florence’s

Matt Dishaw was sixth with a 95.

“It’s nice to finally be out on the course,” said Florence Coach Tom Beck. “Scores were a little high which was to be expected with our lack of course time. I’m looking forward to everyone getting better as we go along.”

The Bobcats play Friday in Crivitz.

Knights boys

2nd in tourney

STEPHENSON — Norway’s boys placed second in the Stephenson Invite at Indian Hills.

“Beautiful day for golf,” said Norway Coach Joby Sullivan, “The boys played very well and had a lot of improvements across the board. It’s fun to see our young team out having fun golfing.”

The Knights — one senior, one junior and three freshmen — tallied a 167 for runner-up. Carney was first with 162.

“Carney had three boys score in the 30s which is tough to beat,” Sullivan said.

Norway’s Jeffrey VanHolla and Carney’s Kage Linder shared medalist honors at 37.

North Central’s girls, 227, topped Forest Park, 232, for first place. Medalist Alina Soha of Forest Park shot a 47.

“Danae Anderson did very well for us,” said Sullivan, noting a 48 for runner-up medalist.
