BELOIT, Wis. — Basketball standout Tristan Shoup has been named Beloit College’s Male Sophomore Athlete of the Year.

The son of Forest Park graduate Jerry Shoup Jr. of Fort Atkinson and grandson of the late Forest Park football trainer Jerry Shoup Sr. was the lone underclassman named to the All-Midwest Conference second-team.

Shoup led the Buccaneers in multiple categories including points, rebounds and block. His 18.2 points per game was second best in the league and he ranked third in the MWC with 8.3 rebounds per game.

The team MVP also tallied a team-high 17 blocks and was second on the team with 61 assists.

The 6-foot-5 forward posted a season high 40-points at Grinnell. Shoup made 19 field goals, the most in a game by any player in the conference this season and the third most by a Buccaneer in program history. His 40-point outing ranks seventh in the BC record book.
