Track and field: Northwoods Storm 2nd in WIAA regional
OCONTO FALLS, Wis. — Northwoods Storm placed second in the WIAA Division 3 regional boys track and field meet Monday.
Suring won the boys title with 149.33 points while the runner-up Florence-Niagara co-op had 108.33.
Brent Dumke soared to first in long jump (18-08.25) and placed second in the 200 (25.17).
Cole Carlson won the 400-meter run (55.05).
Storm’s Josh Sonkowsky placed third in 110 hurdles (18.56) and 300 hurdles (45.97). Teammate Riley Hixon was fourth in 300 hurdles (46.13).
Austin Tripp took third in the 800 (2:13.29).
The Storm also added a third in 800 relay (1:43.89), fourth in 400 relay (50.58) and fourth in 1600 relay (4:02.17).
In field events, Alex Hagerty shared second in the high jump (5-2).
Northwoods Storm’s girls also made a strong showing. Three Lakes/Phelps, 168, captured the team title over Crivitz, 117; Gillett, 88, and the Florence-Niagara co-op, 76.
Khalajia Hannah captured the 400 (1:04.25) along with second in 200 (28.32) and third in long jump (14-11.25).
Alyssa Cretton won the high jump (4-10).
Isabella Burrows placed third in 1600 (6:15.74). Ki’Eircidy Hannah was fourth in shot put (31-06.50).
In the relays, Storm finished third in the 800 (2:03.72) and fourth in the 400 (56.56).
